
Hi, I'm Stephen, pitmaster of 406 BBQ in Kalispell, Montana.
Born and raised on the beautiful island of O’ahu, I’ve built my life around bringing the vibrant flavors of Hawai’i to the world of barbecue through my signature Asian-fusion style that blends island soul with the craft of a seasoned pitmaster.
What started as a side project has evolved into 406 BBQ, my Montana-based catering company, which I’m incredibly proud of. I built my business on brisket, but my heart lies in proudly representing Asian, Polynesian, and Hawaiian flavors in everything I create. From whole-animal asados to island-inspired marinades, every recipe I develop reflects a deep connection to my roots while showcasing the creative spark that drives me forward.
My journey from the islands to Montana has taught me that great barbecue isn’t just about technique. It’s about honoring where you come from while fearlessly exploring where flavor can take you next.
My Cooking Style
My cooking is all about bringing the flavors of home to everything I make. Growing up in Hawai’i, I learned to love the fresh, bold tastes of Asian, Polynesian, and Hawaiian food, and now I’ve found a way to mix those island flavors with great barbecue. I’m not afraid to try new things and push the envelope with my outdoor cooking setups. Whether I’m smoking a whole animal or creating my signature marinades, I keep it real and let the flavors do the talking. At 406 BBQ, I’ve built something special on good old-fashioned brisket, but every dish I serve up is packed with that island soul that makes my cooking stand out.
