About 406 BBQ
Faith. Family. Food
Who We Are
406 BBQ was built on three things: faith, family, and a passion for bringing people together through unforgettable food.
Founded by Hawaiʻi-born pitmaster Stephen Kina, 406 BBQ blends authentic Hawaiian and Polynesian influences with traditional American barbecue to create a style that’s uniquely its own. What started as a local catering company has grown into a nationally recognized brand known for bold flavors, creative recipes, and exceptional hospitality.
Today, Stephen has had the privilege of serving at the 150th Kentucky Derby, cooking as a Featured Chef at the Hawaiʻi Food & Wine Festival, competing on Food Network’s Chopped Castaways, and partnering with nationally recognized brands while building a reputation for delivering exceptional barbecue on some of the country’s biggest stages.
406 BBQ specializes in large-scale catering for corporate events, destination activations, festivals, sporting events, and weddings, bringing the same attention to detail whether serving a few hundred guests or several thousand. Every menu is built with one goal in mind: to give every guest the best bite of barbecue they’ve ever had.
Because for us, barbecue isn’t just about great food. It’s about creating experiences that people remember long after the last bite.
Since starting the business in 2021, 406 BBQ has garnered a loyal following of BBQ fans from all over Montana. We have been featured in the Flathead Beacon and the Daily Interlake and have amassed a 5-star rating on Facebook, Google, and Yelp.
