In 2024, 406 BBQ became the only Montana-based company ever invited to cater at the Kentucky Derby — serving Asian and Hawaiian fusion barbecue at the historic Churchill Downs. Kina described the invitation to the Daily Inter Lake as one that initially "seemed like a scam" before turning into what he called the opportunity of a lifetime.
